      Tip Reasoning

Borussia Dortmund had a shocking first half to the season last year. The regular title contenders (sort of) were actually in the relegation zone by the time the winter break came around.

Eventually, after Jurgen Klopp announced he would be leaving the club, their form turned around and they managed to push their way up the table and end in a Europa League qualification position.

However, many Dortmund fans will be wondering what their new boss has in store for them. He began his domestic competitive reign of Dortmund well at the weekend, beating Chemnitzer FC in the DFP Pokal.

This comes after a successful couple of Europa League qualifying rounds and a number of friendly victories. All in all, Thomas Tuchel has won 9 of the 10 matches he has been in charge for.

But the competition hasn’t exactly been fierce, and he will find himself up against a much better team in Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.

Monchengladbach managed to finish in 3rd position in the Bundesliga last season, 13 points behind the league champions Bayern Munich and 5 points ahead of Bayer Leverkusen in 4th place.

They haven’t taken their foot off the pedal though, and have put the squad through their paces with 8 friendly matches this summer.

They ended the pre season campaign technically unbeaten, having won 5 games, drawn 2, and lost one on penalties after a goalless draw against Hamburger.

They, like all Bundesliga clubs, kicked off their competitive campaign in the DFP Pokal, where they came back from a goal behind at half time, saw debutant Thorgan Hazard score, and eventually beat St Pauli 4-1. Quite the exciting start to the season.

Monchengladbach have had the upper hand in recent years where head to heads are concerned. They have won 4 of the last 5 meetings between the sides, although 3 of these were at home.

Considering this excellent record they have against Dortmund, I think that odds of 5/4 for a Monchengladbach Win or Draw double chance are exceptional value, and too good to turn down.
