AFC Bournemouth vs Wolverhampton Predictions
- Eight of the last 11 meetings have featured fewer than three goals
- Bournemouth failed to score in just one of their final 13 matches of last season
- Both teams have scored in just two of Wolves’ last seven outings
Positives for Bournemouth in Anfield defeat
Bournemouth and Wolves both conceded four goals in their opening Premier League matches of the season, but it will be the Cherries who will have taken more positives from their defeat and they can put their reverse against Liverpool behind them by beating the Midlanders at the Vitality on Saturday.
The Cherries gave the champions a real scare at Anfield after Arne Slot’s side allowed a two-goal lead to slip and it took two late goals to ensure Bournemouth left pointless.
However, there was enough to suggest Andoni Iraola’s team will be more than a match for plenty of Premier League teams this season, especially from their midfield and they look primed to gain revenge for the 1-0 defeat they suffered against Wolves on their own patch in March.
Wolves could be overrun in midfield
Wolves were handed a tough first game at home to a Manchester City team desperate to make up for the disappointing campaign they endured last term, but the manner of their 4-0 loss will have concerned many.
Vitor Pereira’s team posted some strong results towards the end of the season to draw themselves away from any relegation concerns, but they were completely dominated in midfield, especially by City’s new signing Tijjani Reijnders, who had a field day on his league debut.
That does not bode well against the Cherries, who attacked with power and purpose in the second half at Anfield, so we are taking the home side to claim three points in this one with correct-score punters pointed towards a 2-0 home win in a fixture that does not tend to generate many goals.
Semenyo won’t be shy in shooting
Antoine Semenyo was the star of Bournemouth’s impressive second half at Liverpool, scoring both goals and the power he displayed in pushing forward, particularly when running three-quarters of the length of the pitch to net the equaliser, means he is capable of causing Wolves plenty of problems.
The Ghanaian is not afraid to try his luck – he had a total of 125 goal efforts in the Premier League last season – and another dominant display could see him add to his tally on Saturday.
