Bradford vs Liverpool Predictions
European champions Liverpool are in action this weekend, as they look to continue their winning start to the 2019/20 campaign. Less than six weeks after winning the Champions League trophy in Madrid, the Merseysiders are off to Valley Parade chasing a strong start. The Reds still have some top international stars away for this clash, but they will be hoping that their 6-0 victory over Tranmere Rovers on Thursday will become the norm over the course of this summer.
Bradford City are in a decent position themselves, as they are boasting a 100% record ahead of this game. They’ve won two from two in preseason, but will they keep that up through some huge local games? Bradford meet Liverpool and Wigan in their warm-up schedule as we build up towards the new League Two campaign, but the fourth tier side aren’t going to be able to just plug the gap when they take on the champions of Europe on Sunday afternoon.
Liverpool are sitting pretty going into the new campaign, to the point that Jurgen Klopp doesn’t want to make signings. The Reds keep being linked with Nicolas Pepe, but according to Klopp, they don’t want to splash the cash on major additions, even after letting a few squad players depart last month. A lack of depth could be a problem for Liverpool, especially given that the Africa Cup of Nations and Copa America leaves the Reds without their usual front three. Instead, Rhian Brewster has been tasked with leading the line.
Brewster scored twice in Thursday’s 6-0 win over Tranmere, with the Reds completely dominating that encounter. That win came with a squad full of young stars, but they were still able to put on a show. After that success against League One Tranmere, we think that the Reds will pick up another heavy win on Sunday. While the hosts have two wins from two, we can’t see them holding off a Liverpool side who have won their last five games.
Liverpool have won eight of their last nine friendly matches, scoring 32 goals in that time. They’ve got a high scoring edge, which should be on full display against fourth-tier Bradford. Given the gulf between these two and Liverpool’s relentless attacking style, we see a high scoring game here. We’re going with Liverpool to win and over 3.5 goals as our tip in this encounter.
