Brentford vs Burnley Predictions
- Burnley have suffered six defeats on the road this term
- That includes losses to three of the four sides directly above them
- Brentford have won two of their three home meetings with sides below them
- Burnley have lost by two goals in all but one of their away defeats
Big boost for Bees
A 3-1 win at Norwich on Saturday ended Brentford’s slump just in time, as the Bees were able to pull away from the drop zone after going remarkably close. They are still only six points ahead of 18th placed Burnley and the Clarets have played two games fewer, so this is a monumental game in the survival fight.
Burnley had just got themselves back into the mix with a good run of form, but consecutive defeats to nil have left them in a tricky spot going into this one. Can they turn things around, or will Brentford get another key result?
Away troubles spell doom for Clarets
Burnley have a poor away record this term, which points to a tough battle ahead for them in the fight to beat the drop. The Clarets have lost six times on the road, winning only once this term.
Burnley have already suffered defeats at three of the four sides directly above them – Newcastle, Leeds and Everton – so this trip doesn’t look particularly easy for them. The visitors are coming off comprehensive losses to Leicester and Chelsea, so Brentford will fancy their chances of building on last weekend’s win.
Bees to pickup where they left off
Brentford’s worrying form was starting to drag them into the relegation picture, but they do look to have too much quality to be threatened with the drop. In Ivan Toney the Bees have a striker who has struck 93 goals in all competitions since the summer of 2018. In that time, only Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane have a better record among players at English sides.
Their win at Norwich looks to be the perfect turning point, while they’ve already won two of their three meetings at home to sides below them. Given Burnley’s issues on the road, I think Brentford are good value for a victory this weekend. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them win it comfortably, given Burnley have lost by two goals in all but one of their away defeats.
Take Brentford to win in the full time result market, while I’m backing a 2-0 defeat for a Burnley side who have failed to score in 46% of their league games this term.
Brentford predicted lineup: Raya; Roerslev, Jansson, Pinnock, Henry; Mbeumo, Eriksen, Onyeka, Jenelt, Canos; Toney
Burnley predicted lineup: Pope; Roberts, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor; Lennon, Westwood, Brownhill, McNeil; Weghorst, Cornet
