Tip Reasoning

  • Brescia have drawn four of their last five matches.
  • Parma, meanwhile, are unbeaten in nine Serie B games, drawing five during that run.
  • The visitors have lost just four of their 16 away matches this term, drawing seven. Brescia, meanwhile, have managed seven stalemates in 16 home games.

Brescia remain in promotion hunt despite run of stalemates

Despite a run of four draws in their last five Serie B games, Eugenio Corini’s Brescia remain in the hunt for promotion to Serie A, sitting just four points behind second-placed Lecce and five behind table-topping Cremonese. Their credentials will face another tough test on Monday, however, against a Parma side who enter the contest in good form.

Indeed, Parma are unbeaten in nine Serie B matches, although they’ve drawn five of those. That run has included draws against the teams in second, third, and fourth in the table, namely Lecce, Monza, and Pisa, and has also seen them win back-to-back road games prior to this trip. Giuseppe Iachini has lost just four times in his 20 games at the helm since joining in November, as he looks to build a side capable of a promotion push next term.

Brescia, meanwhile, are stumbling. They’ve only lost one of their last 17 games, an away defeat to league leaders Cremonese, but a run of four draws in five matches is harming their promotion prospects. Indeed, a failure to turn one point into three has been a regular problem for Corini’s men this season, and they have actually drawn 10 of their last 16 games, a run which stretches back to mid-December and has seen them feature in 12 games containing under 2.5 goals.

Parma could be worth a double chance punt

Brescia have only lost three home league games all season, but their tally of seven home draws is beaten only by Parma and Crotone amongst Serie B outfits. The hosts have recorded 13 draws all season in Serie B, but Parma’s tally of 15 stalemates, seven of which have come on the road, is also enough to top that.

Given the strong form of Parma and both teams’ tendency to be involved in a stalemate, backing the visitors on the double chance market could be a decent play for Monday’s clash, with a  1-1 draw seeming a decent correct score punt.
