Bromley vs Southend Predictions
- Ahead of the round, only Notts County picked up more home points than Bromley.
- Bromley lost just one of their last eight home games.
- Southend lost eight of their last nine away games.
Bromley can box clever
With just three points separating the top six sides ahead of this Boxing day round of games, Bromley know only a win will do to keep them in with a chance of finding themselves on top of the pile. If anything, kicking off late gives them the advantage of knowing what the win will mean.
Only two sides have won against Bromley at Hayes Lane in this National League campaign (W7, D1, L2) and none who currently sit outside of the top-ten. As such, there is cause for brash Bromley optimism here as they welcome potential relegation candidates, Southend.
Sorry Southend should be sent packing
Victory last time out in the FA Trophy should give Southend a boost ahead of this clash, though they have followed up four of their five wins prior to that with defeat this season (D1), though they did at least score in their last two games following a win.
The introduction of Kevin Maher as manager back in October has done little to remedy the woeful form of Southend, who have won just twice under his stewardship (D1, L6). However, Southend did manage to score in four of their last six games, so they could cause the hosts some problems.
Given the gulf in class between these sides, I think the odds-on price about a Bromley win looks like good value in this late kick off. Consequently, I am going for a reasonably straightforward 2-1 win for the title-chasing hosts.
