Brondby vs Lyon Predictions

• Lyon are already through to the next round and expected to make a host of changes.
• Brondby have won five of their last six matches.

Brondby can bag three points

Brondby have much more to gain than Lyon do when the Danish Superliga outfit entertain the Ligue 1 club on matchday five of the Europa League.

Les Gones were one of the first teams to secure their place in the knockout phase with their fourth straight win in the competition earlier this month and consequently have little or nothing to play for now.

Brondby can still finish second in the group and even third place would guarantee them further continental involvement after Christmas, so they should be geared up to take three points.

And given Lyon’s erratic form and some of the circumstances leading up to this game, there’s a good chance the home side do get the win they desire.

Peter Bosz’s side lost 4-1 to Rennes on their last away trip and had hardly finished their warm-up against Marseille when the game was abandoned amid further fan problems in France.

Montpellier match more important for Lyon

Their European away record is still good, but with a few changes expected ahead of their much more important clash with Montpellier this coming weekend, they can be undone by an in-form home side.

Niels Frederiksen has to do without Anton Skipper and Rasmus Wikström, but he should have his strongest team out for this. They have won five and drawn one of their last six, the last victory coming on Sunday against Superliga leaders Midtjylland.

Goals will probably on short supply because Brondby have scored one and conceded only one in their two group games at home, but we feel the the Boys from Vestegnen can run out 2-0 winners.
