Burnley vs Birmingham Predictions
The Lancashire club have lost Danny Ings and Kieran Trippier over the summer but the core of the side that won promotion from this league in 2014 remains as crucially does the manager. They should at the very least make a strong challenge this season and at Turf Moor especially they ought to be very strong and this is the sort of game they should be winning.
They relied on one of the stars of their promotion campaign, Sam Vokes, to rescue a point late on at Leeds last weekend in the opener. However a strong Burnley side were sent packing by lower league Port Vale in the Capital One Cup in midweek and they could dearly do with a morale boosting win here.
Birmingham will arrive with confidence though after an encouraging start to their season. They beat Reading 2-1 on the opening day thanks to a late penalty miss from the visitors. They also won by the same margin at Bristol Rovers in the Capital One Cup in midweek and have a enthusiastic young squad and manager but may struggle against a Burnley side which boasts more experience and proven quality at this level.
Gary Rowett has done a brilliant job at St Andrews and Blues have won their last 4 Championship matches including their last three games last season but this will be their toughest test yet. Birmingham lost 3-0 on their last visit to Turf Moor in a season when Burnley won 15 home games and lost only two. They will be keen to send down a marker to the rest of the league by making Turf Moor a fortress once again.
The side from the Second City are an improved outfit now but they will find this game tough and Burnley look good value at 4/5 to get their home season off and running with a win.
