Anfield clash looms for Atalanta

The time is right to oppose Atalanta as they travel to relegation-threatened Cagliari ahead of next week’s Europa League quarter-final date with Liverpool at Anfield.

The Nerazzurri are odds-on to win in Sardinia, but were beaten 1-0 by Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia in midweek and may come unstuck against an improving Rossoblu.

Claudio Ranieri’s side are fifth-bottom of the table and only two points clear of the drop zone ahead of this fixture. But they have won two of their last four games in Serie A and are undefeated in three at Unipol Domus.

Cagliari can compete at home

They have just as much to play for as the Bergamo outfit, who are battling to secure Champions League football, and have been pretty consistent at home since October.

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini has been chopping and changing his line-up to cope with the demands of playing on three fronts and it could all catch up with them here.
