Stingy Blues defence to prove too strong

After starting their title defence on the back foot with defeat against newly promoted Liverpool in their season opener, Chelsea’s Women’s Super League campaign is back on track following a 2-0 win over Manchester City at Kingsmeadow on Sunday.

Fran Kirby once again got on the scoresheet for the Blues but their rearguard also clicked to keep out a City team who racked up 60 goals in the WSL last term.

And Chelsea should again fancy their chances of recording a win to nil against London rivals West Ham, who fell to a 2-0 home defeat against Manchester United last time out.

Paul Konchesky’s team could only muster a single shot on target in that defeat and even when they beat Everton 1-0 in their opener, their winning goal was one of only two strikes on target.

Chelsea conceded only 11 goals on their way to the WSL title last season and should have few issues keeping tabs on West Ham, so our prediction is a 2-0 win for the home team at Kingsmeadow.
