Chesterfield to Win and Under 2.5 Match Goals

      Reason for tip

Cheltenham’s 1-0 loss at Cambridge United last week was an uninspiring affair and the Robins managed just two shots on target at the Abbey Stadium. Things went better for Chesterfield who secured a 1-0 home win over Barrow, and they are fancied to make it back-to-back victories in another low-scoring affair.

      Chesterfield 1-0

      Reason for tip

The goals rarely flow when these two meet and Chesterfield are predicted to claim their second 1-0 victory of the fledgling campaign. Six of the last seven meetings have featured no more than two goals and it is hard to see Cheltenham getting on the scoresheet following last week’s tame offering at Cambridge.

      Cheltenham vs Chesterfield Predictions

      • Six of the last seven meetings have featured no more than two goals
      • Cheltenham have lost their last two matches without scoring
      • Neither side has scored more than one goal in any of the last three meetings

      Spireites to clip Robins’ wings

Cheltenham were on the receiving end of a 1-0 loss in their season opener at Cambridge last week, and we predict another 1-0 defeat when they host Chesterfield.

The Spireites claimed a 1-0 win of their own last Saturday when edging past Barrow on home soil, and recent meetings between these suggest the floodgates are unlikely to open at Whaddon Road this Saturday.

Six of the last seven meetings have featured no more than two goals but we might be lucky to get that many given the tame offering presented by Cheltenham at Cambridge.

Michael Flynn’s men managed just four shots at goal, two of them on target, while Chesterfield scored their winner from just five shots, three of which hit the target.

It is early days of course, so things could improve, but neither side has scored more than one goal in any of the last three meetings between these two.

Chesterfield lost 1-0 on their last visit to this venue in February, but our prediction is for them to turn the tables this week.
