Clermont have been out of their depth

Hosts Clermont put in a spirited first-half display away to Champions League-chasing Monaco last time out and went into the break just 1-0 down. But that all changed after the interval as Monaco cranked up the heat. Clermont were simply unable to remain resolute defensively and ultimately succumbed to the pressure of the Monaco frontline. There is cause for concern and boss Pascal Gastien will be eager to turn things around here.

What a season Strasbourg are having. They’ve got their eyes on a place in Europe and it’s fully deserved. The loss of their top goalscorer through suspension was hardly noticeable as they dispatched a 10-man Montpellier outfit, coming from behind to do so. It’s a testament to the character that they possess as a team. However, they’ll need to be careful that complacency doesn’t set in as they can’t afford to think they just need to turn up to win this one.

Away victory on the cards

We don’t think Strasbourg will take their current position or form for granted and we think they’ll put in a dominant and professional display against a poor Clermont outfit. We’re siding with the visitors to win this one and continue their impressive form.
