Colchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur Betting Tips

Colchester are having a terrible time of it this season. They finished just outside the League One relegation zone last season, but currently find themselves rock bottom of the division and staring down the barrel of a relegation battle.

They have picked up just 22 points from their 28 league games so far this season, and they come into this FA Cup 4^th Round match having won just one of their last nine outings in all competitions.

This win was their 2-1 defeat of Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup 3^rd Round, and their last victory before that was their FA Cup 2^nd Round win over Altrincham.

Six of their last nine matches have ended in defeat, and a defence that has conceded 17 goals in their last nine games could find it extremely difficult against the star studded Tottenham Hotspur attack.

Tottenham Hotspur find themselves in a fight for a top four position in the Premier League, and I’m guessing that this will be their priority this season. It could mean a slightly weakened side on Saturday, although their second string squad is still fairly impressive.

It took Spurs two attempts to beat Leicester in the FA Cup 3^rd Round, but the visitors come into this match on the back of a three match winning streak in all competitions.

They are very difficult to beat as well. They have only lost twice in their last 18 outings in all competitions, and both of those have been on home turf. They have only lost away from home twice all season.

I just can’t see Colchester getting anything from this match. Even with the magic of the FA Cup in full swing it will be a real slog, and I’m expecting Spurs to take full advantage of their hosts’ poor defence and bag a few goals.

This makes odds of 2.050 for a Tottenham Hotspur -1.5 Asian Handicap Win look really good value to me, and I’m going for a 3-1 win for the visitors at 10/1 as well.
