Draw

Reason for tip

It is still early days in the Bundesliga season, but neither Koln nor Werder Bremen can be trusted just yet to land the spoils in this fixture. Koln won 19 points at home in 17 games last season, and they come into the fixture on the back of a 4-1 defeat to Stuttgart. Werder Bremen have lost their only away fixture this season, and they won only three road games last season.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

The first meeting between these two sides last season finished 1-1 and a repeat of that looks good value. Koln’s confidence will be low after their 4-1 defeat last time out, while Werder Bremen lost their first away match of the season 4-1 against Freiburg. The two may need a few weeks to hit their stride and a score draw looks the way to go.

Cologne vs Werder Bremen Predictions

  • After back-to-back wins, Koln were hammered 4-1 by Stuttgart last time out
  • Werder Bremen were beaten 4-1 by Freiburg in their only away match of the season
  • Four of the last eight meetings have finished 1-1 between the two clubs

Points to be shared at RheinEnergieStadion

Koln will be eager to get back to winning ways when they face Werder Bremen at RheinEnergieStadion in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Rene Wagner’s team were hammered 4-1 by Stuttgart last weekend in what was their first defeat of the season.

Koln just squeezed past Werder Bremen 3-2 in their league opener, and they have not exactly excelled at home in the last 12 months, having won just five of their 17 home games last season.

Only three teams had a worse away record than Werder Bremen last season and the River Islanders picked up just three away wins. They were thumped 4-1 by Freiburg in their opening match, but responded in style against RB Leipzig, winning 3-1 at home.

They have only won three of the last ten meetings between the two clubs and only one of those successes came on the road.

Four of the last eight matches between the two sides have finished 1-1 and it is hard to separate the two teams after similar starts to the campaign.
