      Derby to Win

      Reason for tip

Derby look the best bet at home to Birmingham. They have won their last three at Pride Park and are coming off a gritty 1-0 away win at Portsmouth. Birmingham are sliding on the road, losing their last two away games, both to nil. They also struggle for goals away and keep conceding, so Derby should have enough.

      Derby 2-1

      Reason for tip

Derby 2-1 is the correct-score pick. This fixture often sees goals at both ends, with BTTS landing in seven of the last nine meetings. Birmingham’s defence has been unreliable, while Derby tend to win by fine margins, with 11 of their 16 victories this season by one goal. Birmingham’s attack has been quiet away recently, but they can still nick one, so a narrow home win fits.

      Derby vs Birmingham Predictions

Derby to edge it at Pride Park

Derby have won their last three home games and John Eustace’s side are the best bet to get the win at Pride Park against Birmingham on Saturday.

They are eighth, two places above Birmingham in the table, with both teams having won more games than they’ve lost this season. The hosts have won 16 and lost 13 of their 38 games, while the visitors have won 14 and lost 13.

Derby kept up their recent winning trend with a 1-0 victory away at Portsmouth on Monday, despite having just 32.5% possession. Sam Szmodics scored the only goal of the game in the eighth minute and Derby will have been pleased with the three points having been priced at 23/10 to win the game.

Birmingham are on a losing run of two straight Championship away games.

They are going through a barren spell in front of goal, having lost their last two Championship away games to nil. They have been disappointing up front on the road this season, scoring just 15 goals in 19 games – an average of 0.79 goals a game.

The visitors are looking vulnerable at the back. Birmingham have failed to keep a clean sheet in six of their last eight Championship games and have conceded 29 goals away from home this season – an average of 1.53 goals per game from 19 matches.

Derby may be able to edge out Birmingham in a close game, with a 2-1 home win the correct-score pick. Seven of the last nine Championship meetings between these sides have seen both teams find the net, and 11 of Derby’s 16 wins this season were by a single goal.
