Derby vs Birmingham Predictions
- Derby failed to keep a clean sheet in four of their last five games.
- Each of the last four H2Hs at Pride Park saw both teams score.
- Birmingham conceded 16 goals across their last six away games.
Derby hope that community spirit can save the day
A practically sold out crowd of above 30,000 Rams fans are expected to attend this game with Birmingham on Sunday as Derby County teeter on the brink of existence. The hosts have been granted a one month reprieve to get their affairs in order, so there is still a hint of belief in the ranks.
Compounding matters for the hosts is the fact that they have had to sell Graeme Shinnie for a cut price and have a red card absence to worry about following a feisty Midlands derby last time out. Even so, Derby have largely impressed despite their 21 point deduction so far this term.
Topsy-turvy Birmingham will give it a go
Birmingham managed to claw back from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 with a relegation-threatened Peterborough last time out, and they will be looking to stick the proverbial knife in another struggling side in this clash.
Only four sides produced more stalemates than Birmingham’s eight ahead of this Championship round, though one of those sides is Derby who have played out a league-high 11 stalemates. Half of Birmingham’s league draws saw both teams score while the same can be said of seven of Derby’s 11.
All in all, I predict both teams to score as my prediction in this clash. The home fans will be Derby’s 12th man while Birmingham have shown that they can come back from adversity. I can see this being a lacklustre 1-1 stalemate in the end as Derby’s hopes dwindle in more sense than one.
