Defensa Y Justicia vs Boca Juniors Predictions
Monday’s Superliga Argentina action sees Defensa y Justicia doing battle with Boca Juniors at the Estadio Norberto “Tito” Tomaghello. Boca will be looking to bounce back from their midweek Copa Libertadores disappointment with a win in Florencio Varela.
After punching well above their weight last season and almost running out Superliga champions, hosts Defensa y Justicia aren’t really hitting the same heights so far this campaign. Having lost some key figures, including manager Sebastián Beccacece, it’s quite understandable to see Defensa operating at a lower level now but they’ll be itching to find improvement in Monday’s game.
Currently 15th with 10 points from 8 games, Defensa look set for an average season but what’s been most concerning has been their lack of attacking output. Indeed, El Halcn have been one of the most entertaining teams to watch in Argentina in recent years but that’s not been the case in the action we’ve seen so far and the fact they’ve not scored once at home in 4 attempts, losing 3 times in the process, has to be big concern coming into this clash.
Meanwhile, Boca arrive off the back of a real low, as they were crushed once again by rivals River Plate in a midweek 2-0 Libertadores semi final, first leg defeat. El Xeneize suffered the indignity of losing the final of said competition to River last year and seem to have a real mental block against their enemy but that’s not something they can let affect their focus for Monday’s game.
Indeed, as far as league action goes, all is running along nicely for Gustvo Alfaro’s troops as they look the recover their domestic crown, having lost it to Racing Club last season. After 8 matches, Boca remain unbeaten and have won 5 times, putting them top and having conceded just once over said matches, they come into this game confident in securing a good result.
Ultimately, in the past, a trip to Defensa wasn;t something to look forward to but that’s simply not the case now and the hosts aren’t looking a very strong outfit anymore. Boca come into the game by far the better shape of the two even when taking into account their midweek defeat and with better quality than the hosts, they have to be fancied to secure victory.
All things considered, backing a Boca win looks the way to play as far as the betting goes in this one and is exactly where our money is going. Boca have won 5 of their last 7 meetings between the two and given their defensive strength and Defensa’s attacking struggles, we fancy them to build on that sequence via a 1-0 margin of victory.
