France U21 to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

France have improved during the tournament, producing their best when beating Poland 4-1 last time out. Meanwhile, Denmark delivered their worst display in a 2-2 draw with Finland in their final group game. France beat Denmark 4-1 last time they played two years ago and another high-scoring win could be on the cards for them. At least four goals have been scored in six of France’s last eight matches at this level and in two of the Danes’ tournament games.

France U21 3-1

Reason for tip

France have scored three or more goals in four of their last six matches. They should have too much firepower for the Danes, but don’t rule out a goal for Hojer’s men.

Djaoui Cisse To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Djaoui Cisse bagged a brilliant brace against Poland last time out and looks a threat to score from midfield against a Danish side that shipped five goals in three group games.

Denmark U21 vs France U21 Predictions

  • France have grown into the tournament and produced their best in beating Poland 4-1 last time out
  • Denmark delievered their worst display in a 2-2 draw with Finland in their final group game
  • France have scored three or more goals in four of their last six matches

French fancied to end Denmark’s party

France look a cut above Denmark on paper heading into Sunday’s quarter-final clash of the two nations at this summer’s European Under-21 Championships. Les Bleuets, who won their one and only title at this level back in 1988, improved as the group stage progressed and look to be approaching their best now.

Djaoui Cisse scored two superb goals in a 4-1 win over Poland that followed on from a dramatic comeback to beat Georgia 3-2. Coach Gerard Baticle has a talented group at his disposal with the likes of Tottenham signing Mathys Tel and Villarreal’s Thierno Barry among several quality options to spearhead the French attack.

Denmark’s U21s also went undefeated through the group stage and have fulfilled their pre-tournament goal by advancing to the quarter-finals. The party, unfortunately, probably stops for  Steffen Hojer’s squad now.

Goals look guaranteed when Baticle’s side play

While the Danes have shown several flashes of class while taking seven points from three games in Slovakia, it was hardly the group of death. They beat an unbalanced Dutch side in the second game after easing to victory against Ukraine and then allowed Finland to battle back from two goals down to claim a draw in the last match.

It was a group of fine margins and, while luck was on Denmark’s side, France are good enough to ensure fortune plays little part in this quarter-final. Blessed with many players getting regular playing time in the top five leagues, they appear to have hit form at the right time.

And Baticle’s men proved that they can score goals against the best in Europe when beating reigning champions England 5-3 in March. Coming after two 2-2 draws against Italy in Germany late last year, their overall record suggests a win with over three goals in the game would be a good bet.
