Struggling Rams to suffer again

Southampton are the best bet to win at Derby on Saturday. The hosts have gone seven home games without a win and are still looking for their first home victory of the season.

The league table supports that view. The Saints are six places and three points above Derby, with the hosts in 20th place on just one win from their eight games, while the visitors are 14th with two wins. The away team has won nine of the 22 bottom-half clashes in the Championship this season (41%), for a profit of 6.93 points to a one-point level stake.

The hosts are struggling for results, having won just one of their last nine Championship matches, and are without a win in three games since beating West Brom last month. The Rams have also looked vulnerable in defence, failing to keep a clean sheet in three straight Championship games and conceding an average of two goals per game at home this season.

A 2-1 away win for Southampton looks like a decent correct-score bet. Both sides have scored in six of Derby’s eight Championship matches this season and the Saints were 2-1 winners against Sheffield United in their last league game.
