Turkiye vs Paraguay Predictions
- Turkiye have scored in eight of their last nine games
- A defeat would leave both sides on the verge of elimination
- Paraguay have scored in 15 of their last 17 games
Qualification on the line at Levi’s Stadium
Turkiye and Paraguay meet in the second batch of group stage games in the early hours of Saturday morning in a clash neither side can afford to lose.
Paraguay were thrashed 4-1 by a rampant USA side in their opener, while the Turks were on the wrong end of an upset as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat to Australia.
Defeat for either here would effectively end their hopes of getting out of the group stage so this is an early game with a knockout feel, and that makes the evens on offer for both teams to score stand out.
Turkiye looked a little toothless against the Socceroos but they did create plenty of chances and are capable of far better. They also improved in the second half after Kenan Yildiz had been introduced and the Juventus man should now start in the second round of games.
Paraguay managed a consolation strike against the USA and they’ve only failed to score in two of their 17 games. With both teams battling to avoid an early exit, both sides should be able to get on the scoresheet.
Turkiye are probably the team in greater need of a victory as defeat would mean they would have to beat hosts nation USA in the final round of games, and they could even be eliminated with a loss at the Levi’s Stadium this week as head-to-head matches are the first tie breaker. The European side were unfortunate against Australia as they dominated that game for large periods, whereas Paraguay can have no complaints over their defeat to the Stars and Stripes.
The Crescent Stars may be able to edge out the South Americans and a 2-1 win for Turkiye has a chance.
Yildiz had six shots against the Socceroos but his accuracy let him down. If the Juventus forward is involved from the off he should get plenty of chances against Los Guaraníes and he looks a decent contender for an anytime effort as Turkiye bid to kickstart their World Cup bid.
