Dijon vs Lorient Predictions
It only took Dijon one season to bounce back to the top flight but early results suggest they will be embroiled in a battle to avoid an immediate drop back to the second tier.
Sitting 17th after nine games, Olivier Dall’Oglio’s team have only taken nine points from as many games. However, eight of those came at Stade Gaston Gerard where they’ve performed admirably since promotion.
A 3-3 home thriller was played out with Montpellier at the start of the month but Dijon had previously recorded 4-2 and 3-0 successes against Lyon and Rennes respectively.
A 1-1 draw away to St Etienne signalled further progress for Dijon at the weekend and a repeat of recent performances could easily be enough to see off a struggling Lorient side who are second bottom following seven defeats in nine.
Sylvain Ripoll’s side were turned over 1-2 at home by Nantes last time out, a result which followed up a fourth consecutive away defeat against Nice at the start of October.
Les Merlus’ dismal start to the campaign and failure to acquire any points on the road makes them impossible to fancy here, even though they bested Dijon 3-0 when the sides last met in early 2015.
Lois Diony, Frederic Sammaritano and Pierre Lees Melou have formed a potent forward line for Dijon who have scored 12 goals already despite their lowly position. Lorient, who have conceded 15 goals in nine games, look vulnerable and shouldn’t offer too much in attack having registered just six times this term.
We think Dijon can land the odds here at a shade of odds against and a 2-1 victory for Dall’Oglio’s side stands out at 8/1.
