Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Italy have seen both teams score in three of their last four internationals and in seven of their last nine outings. They meet a good Ecuador side in new Jersey, with the South Americans six unbeaten despite heavy rotation for their 2-0 win over Guatemala earlier this week. Ecuador have scored in five straight friendlies and they can trouble an Italian defence which is struggling right now.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Italy have drawn with Ukraine and lost to England across their last four and with the side reeling from Roberto Mancini’s departure they could struggle in this clash. Ecuador are unbeaten in six and they’ve won their last four friendlies, so back them to hold the European champions to a 1-1 draw in New Jersey.

  • Italy have seen both teams score in three of their last four matches
  • Ecuador have found the net in each of their last five friendlies

Italy set for tricky test

Italy wrap up their brief US tour against one of South America’s improving sides. Ecuador made the World Cup in 2022 with a young group and they continue to develop as they target a place at the 2026 tournament in the USA.

Ecuador won the first of their two games in New Jersey ahead of the 2024 Copa America in the States, beating Guatemala 2-0 earlier this week. That win made it six games without defeat for Ecuador, who have made a great start to South America’s World Cup qualifiers.

Italy beat Venezuela 2-1 in the first of their two games in the US and the Italians head into this contest having seen both teams score in three of their last four matches.

The European champions will likely face a stronger, refreshed Ecuador after they rested their major stars for their win over Guatemala. Even without them they picked up a fourth straight win in non-competitive games, having now scored in five successive friendly matches.

Ecuador’s talented side can trouble an Italy outfit who have defensive issues, but with the European champions scoring 12 times across their last five, both teams to score is the standout bet.
