Eintracht Frankfurt vs Antwerp Predictions
- Frankfurt have won their last three matches
- The German side are unbeaten in the Europa League this season
- Antwerp have won just two of their last 15 European away games
Free-Scoring Frankfurt
Frankfurt have scored in all bar one of their last 14 matches, including a late 1-0 win when these two sides met in Belgium earlier on in the campaign.
Goncalo Paciencia’s 90th minute penalty earned the three points on that occasion, but that came after a sticky run of form for the Germans, who had staggeringly drawn six games in a row.
Since then, they have won five times in eight matches and know that a point here should be enough to take them through to the knock-out stages.
Oliver Glasner’s side have scored twice in each of their last three matches, and I predict that they will have no problem netting at least a couple of times against Antwerp.
European Struggles For Antwerp
The Belgians sit bottom of Group D with one point from four games and have conceded eight goals in the process – only Celtic and Ferencvárosi have seen their defences breached on more occasions.
On top of that, Antwerp’s record since returning to European football in 2019/20 after a 25 year absence is a poor one, notching up six defeats from nine games.
Despite their decent form domestically – they lie second in the Belgian First Division A – continental football has consistently proved a step too far over the last three seasons, and I expect that to continue.
Frankfurt’s firepower, combined with Antwerp’s poor defence, makes a -1 handicap win for the hosts an enticing bet, and I predict they will win 3-0.
