      Falkirk vs Hibernian Predictions

Hibernian win to nil at 8/11 – ★★

      Hibernian to win 2-0 at 9/2 – ★

      • Hibernian conceded the fourth-fewest goals in the Scottish Premiership last season (37), with only Celtic, Rangers and Hearts faring better defensively.
      • Falkirk, meanwhile, finished sixth in the third tier while boasting just the joint-fifth best attacking record in that division.
      • Hibs thrashed fellow League One outfit Clyde 5-0 last time out.

League Cup clash a tall order for Falkirk

While Scottish League One side Falkirk performed admirably in a penalty shootout win over Championship outfit Greenock Morton in their last League Cup fixture, a clash with Premiership regulars Hibernian looks a tall order after Lee Johnson’s side obliterated Clyde 5-0 last time out. The visitors made the final of this competition last term before losing to Celtic, and their solid defence will give them hope of another deep run.

Indeed, only top three Celtic, Rangers and Hearts conceded fewer than the 37 goals shipped by Hibs despite their seventh-placed finish league last season. Johnson has since taken over, with his first competitive win coming against a team which finished just two places below Falkirk last term. He will, however, have to fix their attacking issues after Hibs scored just 31 times in the league last term, only netting multiple goals in one of their final 11 league outings.

Falkirk were mired in mid-table in the third tier last term, only managing five home wins all season and being outscored in their league campaign by the likes of Montrose, Queen’s Park and Cove Rangers. Falkirk have only scored multiple goals in one of their last eight competitive games, failing to net in five, and look set to struggle once more here.

      Hibs set for shutout win

The last three meetings between these two sides have ended goalless – and while its not difficult to see Hibs breaking the deadlock against their third-tier opponents this time around, a clean sheet for the miserly visitors does look likely.

Therefore, we’re tipping Hibs to win to nil, while a 2-0 away win looks a solid correct score prediction.
