Faroe Islands vs Latvia Predictions
- Both teams have scored in Faroe Islands’ last two home games, both of which were drawn
- Both teams have scored in Latvia’s last two away matches, one of which finished 1-1
- Three of the last five meetings of these nations have finished 1-1
Faroes may be forced to settle for a draw
Faroe Islands may have to settle for a draw when they host Latvia in a match they need to win to move off the foot of their UEFA Nations League C group. Håkan Ericson’s side were pegged back by Armenia in a 2-2 stalemate on Thursday, which follows a certain pattern for both teams.
The Faroes are well organised and can be a threat from set pieces, but they lack a bit of invention to open teams up from open play. Meanwhile, Latvia arrive on the back of a 3-0 home defeat to North Macedonia and can look shaky in defence.
When these sides met in Riga last month, a second-half goal from Renars Varslavans was enough to secure a 1-0 victory for the hosts. But Faroe Islands created three good chances that day and were denied a deserved point by some top-draw goalkeeping.
Both teams can score in Torshavn
Recent history between these nations suggests this clash could finish all square with relatively few goals. Their last five meetings have all featured fewer than three goals with three of them producing the exact same 1-1 final score.
Both teams to score looks like an obvious starting point for bets here, but with Latvia having not scored more than one goal away from home in any of their last seven games the most obvious correct score scenario is that it ends 1-1.
