FC Porto to Win

Reason for tip

Estádio do Dragão is a fortress for Porto, who have won 31 of their last 36 home league games, including nine in a row. They have also won five successive matches in all competitions , and four of their last five home fixtures against Benfica, who travel to Porto after a run of one win in five

FC Porto 2-1

Reason for tip

Benfica score goals, plenty of them, averaging one per game in their last five on the road, so you would expect them to score. However, Porto have already scored 15 times in four home league matches, and although this Benfica defence will be tougher to breakdown than recent opponents, they should still net a couple of times

FC Porto vs Benfica Predictions

  • Porto are on a run a of nine successive home wins
  • Benfica have won just one of their last five in normal time
  • Porto have only lost one of the last 18 games between the two sides

Can Porto topple Benfica?

The stakes are high as Porto host Benfica, with top spot in the Primeira Liga on the line as they look to close a three point gap up to the visitors.

Sérgio Conceição’s side could barely be in better form, given they have won five successive matches, including a pair of Champions League victories over Bayer Leverkusen.

They are also on a stunning run at home, where they have registered nine successive league victories and have won 31 times in 36 undefeated outings since October 2020.

Benfica looking to extend their advantage

Benfica are also in good nick, given they have dropped only two points in nine games this season, those coming in a 0-0 draw at Vitoria Guimares.

However, Porto seem to have the wood over them, given The Eagles have won on just seven of their 41 away games with the Dragons, including four defeats in their last five trips to Estádio do Dragão.

Roger Schmidt’s side also have a bit of a problem getting wins over the line of late, with four of their last five fixtures ending all square.

I predict that Porto will win this match, with 2-1 to the hosts my correct score prediction.
