Canaries can survive scare to reach next stage

A thoroughly entertaining first leg saw Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce win a seven goal thriller as Edin Dzeko’s hat-trick helped the visitors to a 4-3 victory and the Turks will hope that they can hold off Lugano in the return fixture in Istanbul.

The Yellow Canaries have only lost one of the last ten competitive fixtures and they had their best ever Europa Conference League campaign last season, as they went out to eventual winners Olympiacos in the quarter-finals.

Lugano do not possess the same European pedigree as the Turkish counterparts as they finished bottom of their Europa Conference League group last time out but they have played two domestic fixtures so far this season, claiming victories against Grasshoppers and Basel.

This should help the match sharpness of the Lugano squad but it is difficult to see the Swiss side getting the better of Fenerbahce on Tuesday. After scoring three in the first leg, Lugano will feel confident in finding the back of the net but the Turks are filled with quality and a 2-1 home victory looks a strong correct score option.
