Flamengo vs Atletico GO Predictions

Favourites Too Short to Support

Third-placed Flamengo are heavy favourites to dispatch Atletico GO on Sunday morning, but things may not be so straightforward for Rubro-Negro who have suffered comprehensive back to back defeats in their last two Serie A outings.

A 1-4 hammering here against Sao Paolo at the start of the month was followed by a 4-0 thrashing at Atletico Mineiro a fortnight ago, and right now the advice is to swerve Rogerio Ceni’s side at such skinny odds – particularly as opponents Atletico GO triumphed 3-0 in August’s reverse fixture.

The visitors are equally difficult to fancy after failing to win any of their last six games including their last four league assignments, so it may pay to focus on the goal markets instead.

14^th placed Atletico have been poor on the road in front of goal this season with just five scored, but three of their last five matches have produced over 2.5 goals. The same applies to seven of Flamengo’s last eight outings and while the hosts are difficult to support in the match betting, they should weigh in this Sunday after netting at least twice in seven of their last ten at the Maracana.

With those stats in mind and the fact that four of the last six meetings between the sides have also generated three goals or more, over 2.5 looks the most solid play for this weekend’s action and we’re also predicting a 3-1 correct score for Flamengo who have a good opportunity here to get their campaign back on track.
