Tip Reasoning

  • France have won seven games in a row
  • Denmark have lost successive matches away from home
  • France are unbeaten in nine fixtures on home soil

France look to continue strong form

World Champions France might have bigger fish to fry as they look ahead to the defence of their crown in Qatar later this year, but the return of the Nations League is a good chance for them to continue their recent form.

Didier Deschamps’ side have won seven games in a row, are unbeaten since being knocked out of Euro 2020 on penalties by Switzerland and have not lost over 90 minutes in 20 games since a friendly defeat to Finland.

That was also their last reversal on home soil, but when it comes to competitive fixtures they are undefeated since 2019, while of course they are the reigning Nations League champions after beating Spain in the inaugural final.

Denmark look up against it

Seven wins in nine shows Denmark have not struggled for form since their semi-final defeat to England at Euro 2020, but the two defeats during that run are a cause for concern.

Kasper Hjulmand’s side lost 3-1 in a friendly to the Netherlands and 2-0 in Scotland 2-0, both away from home though they still managed to qualify for Qatar top of their group.

They have an unenviable record against France, who they have beaten just once in eight games since 1996, while their last win against a side in FIFA’s 10 top rankings was back in 2020.

I predict that France will win this game, but it could be a narrow victory, with 2-1 my correct score prediction.
