Fulham vs Arsenal Predictions
- Arsenal have conceded just one goal from open play in the Premier League this season.
- Four of the Gunners’ last six matches have been 2-0 wins.
- Fulham have won one of their last 14 games against Arsenal.
Gunners have strong foundations
Mikel Arteta will have been delighted to have been able to take an international-break rest with his team at the top of the Premier League and there looks a strong chance they will be able to kick on from the restart when they make the short trip across London to face Fulham.
The Gunners have finished as runners-up in each of the last three seasons, but there looks strong evidence that they can go one better this time, with Arteta having formed a strong outfit who look set to challenge on multiple fronts.
While the signing of striker Viktor Gyokeres at centre forward, something Emirates loyalists have been crying out for in recent seasons, grabbed most of the headlines before the transfer window shut, it is Arteta’s defence that has been particularly impressive.
Just three goals have been conceded this season from seven league games and just one of those came from open play, so the foundations are there and that is bad news for Fulham.
Cottagers are lacking firepower
The Cottagers have lost their last two games by 3-1 scorelines to Aston Villa and Bournemouth and while manager Marco Silva felt they did enough to get something from their trip to the Vitality after Ryan Sessegnon gave them the lead, they are not creating many strong chances.
Fulham have scored more than once in just one of their seven league outings and their two wins have not been that convincing.
They needed a bizarre late own goal to claim a 1-0 win over Leeds and although they posted a subsequent 3-1 success over Brentford, their expected-goals (xG) mark was just 1.0, so it is questionable whether they have the firepower to trouble the strong Gunners rearguard, so the bet is for Arsenal to win to nil, with a 2-0 success of potential interest to correct-score bettors, as that is what has happening in four of Arsenal’s last six games.
Eze ready to make his mark
One player to look out for in the anytime-goalscorer market is Eberechi Eze, who could be about to break his duck following his big-money move to Arsenal from Crystal Palace.
The England international is establishing himself in Arteta’s Premier League line-up and his opportunities may be even more plentiful with Martin Odegaard’s injury.
Eze has had four efforts on goal in each of his last two league games against Newcastle and West Ham and this could be the time he finally gets on the scoresheet.
