Atalanta/Atalanta

Reason for tip

Atalanta are on a five-match unbeaten run and have been leading at half-time in each of their three victories in that streak. In contrast, Verona have lost four of their five matches and were trailing at the break in each of those defeats. Back the hosts to dominate from start to finish in Bergamo.

Atalanta 3-0

Reason for tip

Atalanta have netted ten goals in their last four games and could put a Verona defence which has conceded 15 times in eight Serie A games – the third-most of any side in the division – under a lot of pressure on Saturday.

Atalanta vs Verona Predictions

  • Atalanta are unbeaten in five matches, winning three times in a run which has seen them net 11 goals
  • Verona have lost four of their last five games and were trailing at half-time in all of those defeats
  • La Dea are unbeaten in four meetings with Verona, winning three times in that streak

Atalanta aiming to bounce back to winning ways

While a 0-0 draw with Celtic will be seen as a disappointment by Gian Piero Gasperini and his side, the bottom line is they are still unbeaten in the Champions League and showed more than enough in that frustrating result to suggest they can bounce back with ease against Verona.

La Dea racked up 22 shots against the Bhoys and it is unlikely Verona will be able to withstand the same amount of pressure given they have shipped 15 goals – the third-most of any side in Serie A – in eight league games this term.

Given the visitors have lost four of their last five matches, they look set to struggle in Bergamo against a side who are unbeaten in five games, winning three times in that run.

Mastiffs may struggle early on in Bergamo

Verona will look to take a leaf out of Celtic’s book and frustrate Atalanta on Saturday but their recent results suggest they simply do not possess the facilities to put in that kind of performance.

Paolo Zanetti’s side have been trailing at half-time in each of their last four defeats – a worrying statistic which is only made worse by the fact that La Dea have led at the break in each of the three wins in their ongoing unbeaten run.

Given the current form of the pair and the fact Atalanta are unbeaten in four clashes with Verona, it seems the best play would be to back the hosts to dominate from start to finish in Bergamo.
