The battle to beat the drop intensifies

Although Augsburg were losers last weekend against Leipzig in what was the fourth game across the last five rounds in which they scored first and couldn’t hold on for victory, they may have better fortunes here against fellow strugglers Stuttgart.

Augsburg have went unbeaten in five of their last six home league games with four victories therein, and with the return of one of their most prolific players, Ermedin Demirovic, the outsider price on a home win looks like great value.

Granted, Stuttgart enter this clash in high spirits after foiling Dortmund’s title charge with a 3-3 draw last weekend, a game which was preceded by their first away league win of the season. However, the fact remains that Stuttgart have failed to win 13 of their 14 away league games and this is by no means an easy trip either.

Stick with Augsburg

With five points between these sides at the wrong end of the table, the result of this game will go a long way to determining the league status of either come next season. However, we’re siding with the hosts here as a victory could all but secure their status by opening up an eight-point gap on the bottom-three.

Given the outrageous price on a home win, we’re going for a confident double chance selection on Augsburg or draw.
