Galatasaray vs Marseille Predictions
- There have been under 2.5 goals scored in five of Marseille’s last six games.
- There have bee under 2.5 goals scored in five of Galatasaray’s last seven competitive home games.
- Galatasaray are unbeaten at home in the group stages.
- Gala have won three of their last five home games (D1, L1).
Goals could be scare in Istanbul
Galatasaray lead the way in Europa League Group E but they still have some work to do to reach the next round ahead of Marseille’s visit.
Gala have eight points from four games but all four teams are still in with a chance of reaching the next round. Marseille have drawn all four of their games so far and could do with picking up a win in Turkey, but they are without two key men.
Dimitri Payet is suspended and Turkish playmaker Cengiz Under looks set to sit this one out with a back injury. With those two creative forwards missing, L’OM could struggle to break down their hosts in Istanbul and a home win has some appeal here.
However, I’m expecting this to be a tight contest and as such under 2.5 goals really stands out as the main bet. The visitors may struggle to create chances with Payet and Under absent but Marseille are an incredibly tough team to score against themselves and they have four clean sheets in their last six games – with five of those games producing under 2.5 goals.
There have been under 2.5 goals scored in five of Gala’s last eight and in five of their last seven at home, including both of their Europa League group stage games. If one side is to claim a win here it is likely to be the hosts, who beat Lazio 1-0 earlier in the competition at Nef Stadium, and as such a 1-0 win for Galatasaray is my correct score selection.
