Galatasaray vs PSG Predictions

Galatasaray is never an easy away fixture in Europe. PSG will make the trip to Istanbul this Tuesday to take on Galatasaray, this will be their second game of this season’s UEFA Champions League. They will hope that this game goes as well as their first, in which they battered Real Madrid 3-0. 

European teams never look forward to a trip to Galatasaray. However, Galatasaray’s poor start to the 2019/20 season will make it slightly more favourable than normal for PSG.

Galatasaray have been the winners of the Turkish Super Lig for the last 2 seasons. However, this season has started out less-than-ideal for the Turkish champions. With just 2 wins from their opening 6 games, Galatasaray currently sit in 6th place in the Turkish Super Lig. 

Galatasaray have averaged just 1 goal per game from their opening 6 fixtures. This form in front of goal is not up to their usual standard. In their last two league-winning seasons, Galatasaray have scored an average of just over 2 goals per game. 

They have scored just 2 goals in their last 4 games in all competitions, which indicates the relatively poor form of their attackers at present. 

Galatasaray have managed to score more than 1 goal in 1 of 8 competitive games in all competitions this season. This goal-scoring form does not bode well for them ahead of the visit of the French champions. 

PSG have excelled defensively this season. They have managed to keep an impressive 7 clean sheets from 10 competitive games this season, which includes 6 league clean sheets from their opening 8 games. 

Both of these sides are yet to concede in this season’s Champions League. PSG won their opening game 3-0 vs Real Madrid, while Galatasaray played out a 0-0 draw with Club Brugge. However, it is clear that PSG’s defensive quality, as well as attacking qualtiy is a level above Galatasaray’s. 

PSG have scored in their last 25 Champions League games. They haven’t failed to score in Europe since their 1-0 loss away to Manchester City in the 2015/16 season. Meanwhile Galatasaray have failed to score in 5 of their last 6 Champions League games and we believe that PSG are likely to win this game to nil. 

PSG have put on some impressive displays this season. However, they have scored more than twice in just 3 of their 10 competitive games this season. 

The absence of Edinson Cavani, Mauro Icardi and Neymar from Tuesday’s game won’t help them in front of goal. Mbappe made his return to action at the weekend, coming off of the PSG bench vs Bordeaux. He will be crucial to PSG’s attack if he’s fit to play this Tuesday. 

We feel that PSG will leave Istanbul with all 3 points on Tuesday. With so many attackers unavailable, they are unlikely to run up too high a tally. We feel that a 2-0 win for PSG is a likely scoreline this Tuesday.
