Real Betis to Win

Reason for tip

Porto have a poor record against La Liga clubs in Europe and they could be set for another loss in Spain on Wednesday. Betis are in form with seven wins in nine games this season and with home advantage appear well placed to make it two wins in as many games in the Champions League.

Real Betis 3-2

Reason for tip

Betis have conceded in four of their last five games and only Man City have kept a clean sheet against so we should see goals at both ends. Six of Betis’ seven wins have come via one-goal margins and Porto have scored at least twice in eight of their last nine games across all competitions so a bold play on a 3-2 home win is the pick in the correct score market.

Troy Parrott To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Troy Parrott scored at Lille and hit four goals in as many games for Ireland during the international break. Parrott came off the bench late on against Osasuna but should come back into the starting side and he can add to his haul for the season against Porto.

Real Betis vs FC Porto Predictions

  • Betis have won seven of their nine games this season across all comps (D1, L1)
  • Porto have lost 13 of their 19 trips to Spanish teams in this competition
  • Betis are on a seven-game winning streak at home stretching into last season

Betis face Porto in Iberian derby

Real Betis kicked off their Champions League bid with a 3-2 win at Lille and now host a Porto side who are seeking their first points in Matchday 2.

The visitors went down 2-0 at home to Manchester City in their opener in the league phase and could end up empty handed once again, as Betis are in fine form.

Manuel Pellegrini’s hosts have won seven of their nine games this season across all competitions, including a 1-0 victory over Real Madrid, and they warmed up for this European assignment with a 5-2 win over Osasuna at the weekend.

Porto are the more experienced side in the Champions League but they have a poor record against Spanish sides. The Dragoes have lost 13 of their 19 Champions League trips to Spanish teams (W3, D3), while they have 29 defeats in 53 games overall against teams from Spain across all UEFA club competitions.

Porto competed in the Europa League last season and reached the quarter-finals but they only won two of their six away games, losing at Nottingham Forest twice and drawing at both Utrecht and Plzen, so Thursday’s tough trip to Seville could be a step too far for the visitors.

Betis have conceded in four of their last five games and Porto have only drawn a blank against City so we should see goals at both ends. Six of Betis’ seven wins have come via one-goal margins and Porto have scored at least twice in eight of their last nine games across all competitions so a bold play on a 3-2 home win is the pick in the correct score market.

Troy Parrott scored at Lille and hit four goals in as many games for Ireland during the international break. Parrott came off the bench late on against Osasuna but should come back into the starting side and he can add to his haul for the season against Porto.
