Germany vs Italy Predictions
World Champions Germany looked like they were about to give England a footballing lesson when the two sides met on Saturday, going two gaols ahead thanks to Toni Kroos and Mario Gomex goals. However, their defence collapsed in the last half an hour, with the persistence of Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane paying off. Both of the strikers bagged a goal before Eric Dier grabbed a winner in the 91st minute.
The normally efficient Germans will be outraged at the fact that they managed to give away a two goal lead, and it casts major doubts over their ability to win the Euros in the summer. This was their 3rd defeat in their last four matches, with France and the Republic of Ireland also getting one over on the World Cup winners.
Italy’s result was much more favourable. They held Spain to a 1-1 draw at home, with the main action of the game coming in the space of two second half minutes. Lorenzo Insigne netted the opener before Aritz Aduriz banged in the equaliser a couple of minutes later. A draw was definitely a fair result.
But Italy now haven’t won any of their last three matches, with draws against Spain and Romania following a defeat to the talented Belgians in November.
Germany will have been knocked a bit when they conceded three goals on Saturday for the first time since 2013, especially since they looked to be in such comfortable control of the match. Italy should be able to get on the scoresheet against them, especially considering Germany have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last six matches.
I don’t think the Italians can keep Germany out though, so odds of 4/5 for Both Teams to Score look good value to me. I’m backing a 1-1 draw at 11/2 as well.
