Germany vs Romania Predictions
- Germany have won all three gams under Hansi Flick by a combined score of 12-0.
- Germany have won nine of their last 11 home World Cup qualifiers by more than two clear goals.
- Serge Gnabry has scored 15 goals in his last 24 internationals including the winner in Romania in March.
Flick has switched Germany on again
It may only be three games into Hansi Flick’s tenure as Germany coach, but many of the doubts and problems that dogged the last months of Joachim Low’s reign have been forgotten.
Germany has a new generation of talent being gradually drip-fed into the line-up and many of the old guard are back producing consistent performances in a 4-2-3-1 formation that suits the players.
Romania are the next obstacle to overcome on the path to Qatar 2022 and it’s hard to see how Tricolorii can resist at Volksparkstadion.
Mirel Radoi’s are five points adrift of leaders Germany, which may be too big of a gap to bridge, but only a point behind Armenia in the race to make the play-offs as Group J’s second-place finisher.
Therefore, even though they will aim to get something in Hamburg, the following Monday’s home game against Armenia is more important.
We expect a German win and, with such a deep and talented pool of attackers at his disposal, one in which the hosts entertain the crowd with a few goals.
Die Mannschaft have won nine of their last 11 home World Cup qualifiers by more than two clear goals, so we feel able to recommend Flick’s side to cover a -2 handicap here.
After three clean sheets in succession, Romania can boast a decent defensive record, but Armenia had blanked three of their first four group opponents prior to their 6-0 annihilation in Stuttgart last month.
We’re supporting a 3-0 outcome with Serge Gnabry, scorer in Bucharest and with 15 in his last 24 internationals, on the scoresheet.
