Dutch should thrash wounded hosts

A 1-0 win over Ireland ensured the Netherlands will finish in the top two of their Euro 2024 qualifying section and they conclude their campaign away to wounded minnows Gibraltar.

While the Dutch dug deep in Amsterdam last time out, Gibraltar were destroyed 14-0 by France in Nice, leaving them rooted to the foot of their qualifying section with seven defeats from seven games.

That was France’s biggest ever win and they racked up 39 shots, 20 of which were on target.

Gibraltar unlikely to breach Koeman’s Netherlands

A repeat of that kind of scoreline is unlikely, especially as the Dutch lack the firepower of France, but it should still be a very comfortable win and the Netherlands are worth backing at -4 goals on the handicap.

That means punters are backing the Dutch to win by five or more goals, which looks reasonable given Gibraltar have conceded on average five goals per game in qualifying.

As far as a correct scoreline is concerned, it is hard to see Gibraltar breaching the visitors and a bet on 5-0 to the Netherlands could be the way to play it as Ronald Koeman’s side look to secure their spot in pot two of the Euro 2024 draw.
