Gremio vs LDU Quito Betting Tips and Predictions

Gremio are currently involved in the regional Gaucho in Brazil but it’s hard to read too much into their form from matches against smaller sides from their state. They have 15 points from 7 games so far and have a big game against city rivals Internacional at the weekend to look forward to. Before that they need to get their Copa Libertadores campaign off and running after a 2-0 defeat in Mexico against Toluca a fortnight ago. That was a worrying scoreline when you consider Toluca were reduced to 10 men in the 1st half with the score at 0-0 and Gremio will need to be better here.

LDU Quito aren’t particularly happy travellers though and they’ve lost their last 4 away matches in all competitions. They’ve lost their only two league games in Ecuador this season but did win 2-0 at home to San Lorenzo last week to get their Libertadores campaign off to a flying start.

They won’t be expected to get anything here so the pressure will be off and they could just make a game of it with Gremio not looking entirely convincing. Gremio’s last two matches have been a 4-2 win and a 3-2 defeat and we should see a few goals here. LDU Quito haven’t played a Libertadores away game in 3 years and their most recent match on the road in this competition was a 1-0 defeat at Gremio in January 2013 in a preliminary tie which they lost on penalties.

It’s hard to see them getting revenge here though and with home advantage and a bit more quality backing Gremio to win 2-1 at 8/1 might be where the smart money lies.
