Guarani SP vs Ponte Preta Predictions
- Guarani have drawn 4 of their last 7 matches.
- 3 of said games have ended 1-1.
- Ponte Preta have drawn 2 of their last 4 games.
- 2 of the last 4 meetings between the two have ended all square.
Guarani gunning for bragging rights
In a tough group also containing top flight outfits Bragantino and Corinthians, the odds were firmly stacked against Serie B side Guarani heading into the Campeonato Paulista. Nonetheless, the hosts have performed pretty well in it so far, taking 13 points from 9 matches; leaving themselves on course to qualify for the knockout round.
A win on Monday will further enhance their chances of doing exactly that but more importantly, would see them claim bragging rights in the first clash this year against bitter rivals Ponte Preta. However, with the match now behind closed doors, it’ll be a harder task for Bugre and the fact their biggest match of 2020 so far will be played without fans has left a feeling of disappointment around the club.
Ponte looking to take the points
Meanwhile, Ponte Preta were handed a more favourable group, with Santos the only top flight side in it but things aren’t going entirely to plan for the visitors. At the time of writing they find themselves 3 points behind Agua Santa and a place in the knockout phase, having only collected 7 points from 9 games.
As such, Ponte could really do with winning Monday’s clash, even disregarding the local rivalry dynamic. Arriving off the back of a 3-0 win over Afogadas in the Brazilian Cup, there’s at least an improved degree of confidence in away ranks and on paper, they know they have the ability to match Guarani all over the pitch.
A close game is expected to be in order
Ultimately, we’re expecting Monday’s game to be a closely fought affair between two teams desperate for points and bragging rights. On paper, there’s very little between the two and that’s more than reflected by the fact just 3 points separated them over a 38 game Serie B season last term.
All things considered, backing a draw looks the best way to play as far as the betting is concerned and is something we’re more than happy to do. Guarani have drawn 4 of their last 7 matches and with 3 of said stalemates having ended 1-1; that’s a scoreline we fancy being repeated once again in this fixture.
