Halifax vs Ebbsfleet United Predictions
- Halifax have won four of the last six vs Ebbsfleet
- The visitors are the lowest scoring side in the National League
- Ebbsfleet are averaging 0.9 goals in the last four games vs Halifax
Halifax slowly drifting away
With three losses in their last four games, Halifax’s playoff push is slowly taking blows with the teams around them closing the gap. Four points separates 6th and 11th in the National League this season and changes must be made if Halifax wish to attend the 2020 playoffs this season.
In the three losses, Halifax have failed to score a single goal and have seen less than three goals score in each of their last four games. Despite finding the net on 50 occasions this season, the Shaymen’s defending has been sup par with 48 goals conceded. They have the lowest positive goal difference in the league which could prove to be vital as the race for promotion hots up.
Ebbsfleet grinding out wins
Despite winning just nine games all season, three of those wins have come in the last five for Ebbsfleet who are fighting for their lives in the top tier of the National League. Unfortunately for the visitors, they have conceded the most goals in the National League this season and were punished 4-1 by Halifax in the reverse fixture.
Ebbsfleet have played some of the their best football in recent weeks but it still isn’t good enough to compete with the majority of the league. They’re averaging 1.21 goals per game in the league and boast a -22 goal difference ahead of Saturday’s clash in West Yorkshire.
Avoid the goals and focus on the better team
Halifax have won five of their last seven at home in the league and need to keep the consistency hot with the season ending soon. Fate is in their own hands and these are must win games if they wish to make the playoffs this season. Ebbsfleet have no doubt seen improvements, but that has come more from the backline and not in front of goal. Four of their last six games have seen less than three goals scored while the hosts have also seen the same in their last three games.
Halifax were dominant in the reverse fixture but they were helped massively with an Ebbsfleet red card in the ninth minute. It’s hard to see the goals flying in but Halifax should still get the all important win to remain in playoff contention.
