Hamburg vs Augsburg Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

Hamburg are out of form, but there might be a bit of value in backing them to beat Augsburg at Volksparkstadion on Saturday.

Augsburg are two places above Hamburg in the table, but both teams have lost more games than they’ve won this season. The hosts sit 12th having won seven and lost 11 of their 27 games, while Augsburg are tenth with nine wins and 14 defeats.

Hamburg were beaten 3-2 by Borussia Dortmund in their last Bundesliga game two weeks ago, having seen little of the ball with just 31.7% possession. Philip Otele gave Hamburg the lead on 19 minutes, and Albert Sambi Lokonga also scored, but Dortmund, who were priced at 2/5 to win the game, came back to win.

The visitors are looking vulnerable at the back. Augsburg have conceded in all 13 of their away games this season, failing to keep a clean sheet in their last 17 on the road. They have shipped 26 goals so far – an average of two per game.

The visitors are out of form. Augsburg have gone three games without recording a victory and have sustained seven defeats on their last nine away days in the Bundesliga.

Hamburg may be able to edge out Augsburg in a close game, with a 2-1 home win the correct-score pick. If both teams score it would be the fourth Bundesliga game in succession for Hamburg, and five of their seven wins this season were by a single goal.
