Hampton and Richmond vs Oldham Predictions

With the FA Cup weekend coming to a close, the action is not quite complete, as this Monday the BT Sport cameras will bring us first round action from the Beveree Stadium as National League South side Hampton and Richmond welcome League Two side Oldham Athletic. With neither side in particularly inspiring form at the moment, they will both be doing all they can to emerge victorious and claim a spot in the third round.

Hampton and Richmond have already come through two rounds of the FA Cup to make the first round proper and their 3-0 win over Burgess Hill Town as well as their 1-0 victory over AFC Hornchurch means that they have already got a grasp on what they need to do in order to succeed in the competition.

However, this Monday’s action represents a major step up in quality and the fact that they have failed to win in their previous three outings is hardly the ideal preparation. However, all is not lost for the non-league minnows, as even in those three matches they have still scored four times, so if they can tighten things up at the back then they will certainly have an opportunity at upsetting the odds.

Making the trip to the Beveree Stadium is a Oldham Athletic side who themselves have been struggling in their recent outings. The Latics have failed to win their previous three matches in League Two and although they managed to emerge victorious over Everton’s under 21 side in the controversial Checkatrade Trophy, even that result saw them pushed to their limits.

The FA Cup has a history of producing shocks and given that the TV cameras will be at the Beveree Stadium too, we have a feeling that the hosts could be in for a positive result on Monday evening. They have already shown their quality in front of goal and with the magnitude of the occasion inspiring them to play above themselves, we think that backing them on the double chance option represents the best option in this fixture.
