Hartlepool vs Wrexham Predictions

Long gone are the days when the top tier of non-league football was a major step down from the Football League and these days the league is littered with teams who have spent the majority of their existence within the construct of the top four divisions of English football. This Bank Holiday Monday sees two of those sides go against each other as Hartlepool United welcome Wrexham to Victoria Park.

It is fair to say things have not exactly gone to plan for Hartlepool and they come into this match without a win in their last three games. Their goalless draw on Saturday away at Chorley followed on from a clash with Bromley, where goals from Gavan Holohan and Gus Mafuta weren’t enough in a 3-2 defeat. Prior to that, striker Gime Toure put the Monkey Hangers 2-0 up but two goals in as many minutes for AFC Fylde levelled things up on a frustrating afternoon for United.

Wrexham were last in action on Saturday where Barnet were the opposition at the Racecourse Ground. A whirlwind opening ten minutes was, in essence, the tale of the game as JJ Hooper put Wrexham ahead after just two minutes before Dan Sparkes levelled with a smart finish. Shaun Pearson was denied in the second half by a sensational Scott Loach save following a header from a corner. Avoiding defeat meant Wrexham are unbeaten in their last three games with a draw at Notts County coming after a win over FC Halifax Town.

Neither of these sides are at the top of their game at the moment and it is hard to make a case for either to come away with three points. Hartlepool are yet to win any of their three home league games this season and Wrexham are yet to win any of their matches away. However, the fact that the hosts are leaky at the back and their visitors have seen both teams score in five of their six matches so far suggests to us that backing both teams to score represents the best chance of a decent return.
