Heidenheim vs Augsburg Predictions
- Augsburg’s first four Bundesliga games of the new season have averaged 4.25 goals.
- Over 2.5 goals have been scored in three of the last four encounters between these clubs.
- Only Union Berlin (11) have conceded more goals than Augsburg (10) so far this term.
Expect leaky defending and goals at the Voith-Arena
Both Heidenheim and Augsburg occupy places in the Bundesliga’s bottom three following poor starts to the new German campaign, and their defending has been leaky enough to suggest goals could be in the offing when they clash on Saturday.
Heidenheim have yet to collect a single point this term, though their 4-0 win over Augsburg in last season’s corresponding fixture was their biggest victory of the entire campaign in 2024/25, which could give them confidence to draw from ahead of Saturday’s rematch.
Augsburg were dismissed 4-1 by Mainz last weekend, despite their opponents completing the last 35 minutes with ten men. Indeed, Mainz scored twice after Dominik Kohr’s second-half dismissal to rub salt into Augsburg’s already gaping wounds.
Augsburg’s matches have been high on entertainment so far, with their first four Bundesliga games of the campaign averaging a meaty 4.25 goals and more action could be in the works when they visit Heidenheim.
Like Augsburg, Heidenheim haven’t been defending with any authority and have conceded at least twice in four successive league fixtures since the summer. Both teams also rank among the league’s bottom four performers for average shots on target conceded per 90 minutes, so we can see both backlines struggling on Saturday.
With that in mind, the over 2.5 goals market appeals at the prices on offer, while a 2-2 draw between two outfits that have conceded 19 times between them in eight games combined feels like a suitable correct score forecast.
