Manchester City and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Huddersfield knocked Leicester and Sunderland out in the previous two rounds of the Carabao Cup, with BTTS landing in each contest. The Terriers’ run is likely to end here, but they could give City a scare.

Manchester City 3-1

Reason for tip

Huddersfield have scored exactly one goal in three of their last five games, including in the previous round of the Carabao Cup against Sunderland and the Terriers could be worth a consolation goal against Man City.

Huddersfield vs Manchester City Predictions

  • Huddersfield knocked Leicester and Sunderland out in the previous two rounds of the Carabao Cup and BTTS landed on each occasion.
  • Each of Man City’s last two away assignments have featured goals at both ends.
  • Man City have won two and drawn one of their last three games.

Look to the BTTS markets for success at the Accu Stadium

Huddersfield are enjoying an extended Carabao Cup run and the Terriers took significant scalps in each of the competition’s last two rounds against Leicester City and Sunderland, ousting both clubs on penalty kicks.

Town held their own on each occasion, holding Leicester to a 2-2 draw at the Accu Stadium and Sunderland to a 1-1 tie at the Stadium Of Light before prevailing on spot kicks, and Huddersfield could raise their game enough to score again against visiting City on Wednesday.

Pep Guardiola’s side came within a whisker of securing a statement win over Arsenal on Sunday before a late Gabriel Martinelli leveller denied them at The Emirates Stadium. That solid display in North London followed successive home wins over Napoli and derby rivals Man Utd, suggesting that City are a side on the up.

Guardiola is likely to rotate in midweek with Savinho, Rico Lewis and Oscar Bobb among those hoping to earn minutes, though, even a weakened City should eventually be too strong for Huddersfield.

Town’s heroics in the early rounds of the Carabao Cup could give them the impetus to play with the brakes off in Wednesday’s tie, so backing City to win and both teams to score is attractive in the circumstances.

City hammered Huddersfield 5-0 in Manchester in the third round of the FA Cup in January, however, this midweek rematch in Yorkshire has the potential to be more awkward and a 3-1 win for the visitors is fancied for our correct score forecast.
