Frej vs Osters IF Predictions

This is a bit of a relegation six-pointer and it’s certainly of huge significance for the home team. Frej are currently just one place off the bottom and they really need to start picking up a few results if they are going to successfully chase down the sides above them in the race for survival.

They are no strangers to a relegation battle though. Last season they ended up in the relegation play-offs having finished 7 points off guaranteed safety. They’d probably take a repeat as things stand, given they are currently in one of the two automatic promotion positions with an average of just 0.5 points per game so far this term.

Their opponents haven’t been a great deal more convincing but they do at least have a two point advantage on the bottom four as it stands. Oster though would have had loftier ambitions having finished 5th last term, narrowly missing out on a play-off place which would have given them a chance to fight for promotion to the top flight.

While these may not be great sides, this is certainly a match that has the potential to deliver goals. 70% of Frej games and 67% of their home outings so far this term have seen over 2.5 goals scored. They have the joint worst defensive record in the Swedish Superettan with 2.1 goals per game conceded on average. They’ve actually shipped more goals at home than away so there certainly should be defensive cracks for the visitors to exploit here.

Oster aren’t exactly masters of the art of defending either though. They’ve let in 1.7 goals per game so far this term but they have scored in 80% of their matches, so again they’ve tended to be a pretty good watch from a neutral perspective. 70% of their games have also seen over 2.5 goals scored and they ought to see this as an away match that they could potentially win, so we should see a fairly open game develop.

The hosts certainly need to win but it’s difficult to strongly fancy either of these sides right now and backing Over 2.5 Goals may well be the smart move here.

In terms of the outcome, going for a 2-2 Draw appeals in the Correct Score market. Both sides clearly have a goal or two in them with defensive issues the main problem in both cases. Oster are the more likely winners but they’ve been really poor in their last two games, so there’s reason to think Frej can get a result.
