Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Valencia are without top scorer Hugo Duro and fellow striker Rafa Mir, so goals could be more of a problem for them than of late. Although they haven’t been scoring many even with their first-choice forward line. Girona held form for almost 90 minutes in Paris and they can escape with a point at the Mestalla after a low-scoring draw.

Valencia vs Girona Predictions

  • Valencia have drawn five of their last 10 home league games
  • Girona have drawn two of their last five away games in La Liga
  • Valencia are without top scorer Hugo Duro and fellow striker Rafa Mir

Los Che are low in La Liga

Valencia are in must-win territory after just five games of the season and anything other than three points at home to Girona on Saturday will leave them bottom of La Liga.

Los Che have had a rocky start to the campaign, suffering defeats against Barcelona, Celta Vigo. Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid and taking a solitary point from their home clash against Villarreal.

The stats suggest their lowly position is a deserved one but the fixtures are getting easier now with mid-table Girona’s visit followed by a clash against Osasuna.

Striker problems for Valencia

However, the club is also mired in an off-field scandal concerning summer signing Rafa Mir, who has been told he cannot play for the next couple of weeks while an investigation takes place.

Last season’s top scorer Hugo Duro remains out with an injury, so third-choice striker Dani Gomez was required to play in a mask at the Metropolitano a few days after he had broken his nose.

Meanwhile, Girona will arrive at the Mestalla a few days after suffering the heartbreak of conceding a 90th-minute winner to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. Michel’s side are not as talented or threatening as last season, but they can set their stall out for a point and get it.
