Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Under 2.5 goals have been scored in seven of Inter Milan’s last nine games, as well as in eight of the last nine to feature Juventus. This will be the fourth meeting between these rivals this term, with each of the previous three containing a maximum of two goals, while the Nerazzurri have failed to even score a non-penalty goal against the Bianconeri this campaign.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Inter and Juventus drew 1-1 in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final tie earlier this month. While the Bianconeri have only won one of their last six games, netting four times in that run, the Nerazzurri have only scored 10 times in their last nine matches across all competitions.

Inter Milan vs Juventus Predictions

  • Under 2.5 goals have been scored in seven of the last nine games to feature Inter Milan.
  • Juventus, meanwhile, have seen two goals or fewer scored in eight of their last nine.
  • These Derby d’Italia rivals have already met three times this season – each of those matches have contained under 2.5 goals.
  • Juventus and Inter have the joint-third and fourth-best defensive records in Serie A this season, respectively.

Rivals gear up for huge Derby d’Italia

Inter Milan and Juventus have lifted the Coppa Italia in six of the last eight seasons between them, but only one of Italy’s two biggest rivals can reach the competition’s final this term – and their semi-final tie is perfectly poised following a 1-1 draw in the first leg earlier this month. While last campaign’s final saw Inter seal a thrilling 4-2 extra-time success over Juve, a similar goal-fest looks unlikely this time around, with the teams having already played out three low-scoring contests this season.

Indeed, Inter are yet to win or even net an open-play goal against the Bianconeri this season, losing 2-0 and 1-0 in Serie A and requiring a late Romelu Lukaku penalty to rescue a draw in Turin three weeks ago. The Nerazzurri have shown something of a return to their attacking best in the last week, drawing 3-3 with Benfica and winning 3-0 at Empoli, but each of their previous seven games had seen under 2.5 goals scored.

Juventus, meanwhile, have seen eight of their last nine matches contain a maximum of two goals, after Giacomo Raspadori’s last-gasp volley condemned Massimiliano Allegri’s men to a 1-0 defeat at home to Napoli last time out. Though Juve reached the Europa League semi-finals last week and returned to Serie A’s top four as a result of their points deduction being overturned, they have now only won one of their last six games, netting just four times throughout that run.

Goal-fest not expected as knockout kings face off

Both Inter and Juve made several changes for their weekend outings in Serie A, and two sides well-versed in the demands of knockout football will give this semi-final decider top priority after a busy few weeks.

Games between these sides tend to be low-scoring even without a cup final place at stake, and we expect more of the same at San Siro. Under 2.5 goals is our main selection, and another tense 1-1 draw could represent a solid correct score prediction – with extra time and potentially penalties then on the menu.
