Toulouse vs Strasbourg Predictions
- Both teams have scored in each of the last five clashes between these sides as well as in six of Strasbourg’s last eight matches in all competitions.
- Toulouse are winless since October and have lost twelve of their last thirteen matches.
- Strasbourg have won six of their last ten away games and their last three clashes with les Violets.
Toulouse not out of the jungle yet
Toulouse’s season has been nothing short of a calamity with them currently pinned to the bottom of the table and eleven points from safety. They’ve lost fifteen of their 22 games in Ligue 1 plus each of their twelve games prior to their trip to Amiens at the weekend. It was a crucial clash as they faced the 19th placed side but it ended 0-0. The result didn’t help either team but it did stop the rot for Toulouse.
However, this match was against a team just as bad as them and they will have a much trickier task here against Strasbourg. On top of Toulouse being bottom of the table, they also have the worst home record in the league with just nine of a possible 30 points picked up so far. They haven’t won at home since October with them failing to score in two of the five games since then.
The visitors happy playing on the road
Strasbourg were defeated at the weekend but will still enter this match with some confidence. They lost 2-1 to Lille but held the lead over last year’s silver medallists for fifty minutes and only lost due to Victor Osimhen’s late penalty. It was their second defeat in a week but the one previous came against 2nd placed Marseille so they shouldn’t be too demoralised given the quality of opponent.
Strasbourg are the visitors for this one but this will likely suit them as they have been very good on the road recently. The Alsatians have won six of their last ten away games with 19 goals scored and twelve conceded in this time.
Strasbourg to come out victorious in this tight clash?
As a result of this rather lax defence, we’re backing the hosts to score here as they have done so in five of their last seven home games, the two slip-ups coming against Ligue 1’s fourth and second best defences. We still expect the visitors to get the win though as they have beaten Toulouse in each of the last three clashes. Both teams have scored in the last five meetings of these sides as well as in six of Strasbourg’s last eight matches so we’re going for a 2-1 win for the away side here.
