Toulouse too good for struggling Strasbourg

Toulouse have won only two of their nine Ligue 1 matches, but the Violets have been performing far better than that record suggests and Jens Berthel Askou’s men have deserved more than what they have achieved.

The expected goals data has Toulouse as the fourth best performing team in the French top flight this season and there should be better to come. 

The Violets were beaten 2-0 at Marseille on Sunday, but they won the shot count 14-13 and the xG finished 1.90 to 1.29 in favour of Askou’s men. 

Clearly, Toulouse deserved something from that tie, and while they may need to be more efficient in both boxes, a period of adjustment was always likely after Askou was appointed. 

Toulouse rate a progressive outfit and Strasbourg cannot claim the same. 

Le Racing have lost four of their last five Ligue 1 games and they have lost four of their five away games this term. The numbers are poor for Hugo Oliveira’s men too and Strasbourg have conceded 13 goals in their five road trips. 

Toulouse rate by far the most likely winners in this spot and the price is big enough to punt the home side.
