Juventus vs Spezia Predictions

• Spezia have never beaten Juventus, losing all four of the teams’ previous head-to-head clashes.

Bianconeri under early pressure

Although Juventus did not put in a poor display in their 1-1 draw against Roma, the result served to heighten scrutiny of Massimiliano Allegri, coming as it did off the back of a 0-0 draw at Sampdoria. While the Bianconeri should have more than enough quality to clinch a first win since the opening day when Spezia visit Turin, their creative failings make it hard to picture a goalfest.

Juventus have seen under 3.5 goals scored in 12 of their last 13 league games – the exception being a 2-2 draw with Lazio in which they conceded a last-gasp equaliser. Juve only got three of their 14 attempts against Roma on target, relying on a Dusan Vlahovic free-kick to hit the front. Juve only had the 11^th best attack in Serie A last term, and have struggled to change that during the summer – only seven Serie A teams have managed fewer shots thus far, and only four have gotten fewer on target.

Spezia recovered from a 3-0 loss at Inter to clinch a 2-2 draw with Sassuolo last time out, but Juve do not play with anything approaching the attacking verve of those teams. Spezia have never beaten the Bianconeri, but limited them to a single-goal victory in this same fixture in March, and with Juve seeing five of their last six home games contain under 3.5 goals, should keep things respectable.

Juve to win – but convincing display not expected

For all the criticism facing them, Juventus are unbeaten in their last six home league games and should have more than enough about them to see off Spezia.

However, their rigid style makes under 3.5 match goals a strong play, and Spezia should give a decent enough account of themselves to limit the hosts to a 2-0 win.
